New for 2020! Self defence at the Hollandse Club: We are pleased to partner with Spartans Boxing, Karate Nation and the Lions Taekwondo Academy for self-defence classes.
Professional coaches will guide and mentor students safely through all three disciplines. As well as being great for overall fitness, self-defence classes have been proven to boost energy and help students become more calm, focused and goal-oriented in their personal and professional lives.

People often ask, “How are Taekwondo and Karate different?” Or, “Which is better?”
Both are excellent forms of martial arts training, each giving a great work out with a focus on self-defence, discipline and a high code of personal conduct.
So, how are they different?
The specific postures, stances, and movements differ significantly between Taekwondo and Karate.
Karate – originating in Japan - focuses on punching and blocking whilst training strength, power and solid stances. Karate frequently includes knee and elbow strikes, with some kicking techniques.
Taekwondo – originating in Korea - emphasizes kicking techniques, focusing around 70% on kicks with 30% on blocks, punches and open-handed strikes.
