New for 2020! Martial arts at the Hollandse Club: We are pleased to partner with Karate Nation and the Lions Taekwondo Academy.

Professional coaches will guide and mentor students safely through both disciplines. As well as being great for overall fitness, martial arts have been proven to boost energy and help students become more calm, focused and goal-oriented in their personal and professional lives.

KARATE-DO

(4YO-ADULT)

Enhance your fitness and coordination, learn the art of self-defence and develop the intrinsic values of respect and self-control with our brand new Karate-Do Program.

TAEKWONDO

(3YO-ADULT)

Learn the art of self-defence in this class program which is a combination of traditional and modern Taekwondo.

WONDERING WHICH DISCIPLINE IS FOR YOU?

People often ask, “How are Taekwondo and Karate different?” Or, “Which is better?”

Both are excellent forms of martial arts training, each giving a great work out with a focus on self-defence, discipline and a high code of personal conduct.

So, how are they different?

  • The specific postures, stances, and movements differ significantly between Taekwondo and Karate.

  • Karate – originating in Japan - focuses on punching and blocking whilst training strength, power and solid stances. Karate frequently includes knee and elbow strikes, with some kicking techniques.

  • Taekwondo – originating in Korea - emphasizes kicking techniques, focusing around 70% on kicks with 30% on blocks, punches and open-handed strikes.
